The Gem Centre started in 1966 as a small sapphire cutting business with Ray and Shirley Klibbe. The business serviced Inverell's booming sapphire mining trade. 

Bill and Pam Gowlett purchased The Gem Centre and expanded the range with loose gemstones and fine jewellery. Having been in the sapphire trade for over a half a century, we have a large selection from the area including Reddestone Creek, Snake Gully, Horse Gully, and Frazer’s Creek. 

The Simpson family are proud to continue The Gem Centre’s tradition of being family owned, local and trusted. 

Our door has been open for over 50 years! With many satisfied customers from all over the world. We love to welcome any visitor to our store. We also post!
